What it isn’t:
It is not a business, not a shop, not a winemaker, nor seller of time-shares.
What it is:
The Crooked Path is a music sanctuary, open during most summer week-ends.
Gifted musicians perform here.
What to expect:
Guests are welcome to bring their own food, wine, blankets, chairs – and enjoy a splendid afternoon. You will mostly hear original music. Styles vary from Blues & Rock to Reggae, Samba, Folk, Jazz and Classical.
On Saturday (expect the main act around 3 PM) it is usually a lively jam with local musicians. On Sunday Bent plays songs and music from a lifetime of writing and performing around the world. Millions have heard his music in films and on TV, but would never know it. He is not famous, but thinks his songs ought to be.
Besides the music itself, an unusual sound system & mix-technique is used. At the Crooked Path the performers and audience are all in the same sound-field.
What we encourage:
Since the Crooked Path is private property, guests may drink wine or beer, but it is not sold here. Pets are welcome, but hang on to them please, as things have gotten out of hand. Listeners are the most welcome. You may smoke in the garden, but if you do, some may mistakenly assume you to be on fire and take appropriate measures.
The music is free, but life costs money, so what is collected supports the Crooked Path to exist and the musicians to live. Since we are a sanctuary, not a business, we do not sell but offer items such as CDs as gifts to take home. Often guests consequently become so overjoyed that they leave offerings in the contribution-box – on average ten bucks per CD.
In this manner two give a gift, rather than one selling to another.
The Crooked Path is a musical experiment and spiritual pursuit. The music is highly collaborative and always changes. Resident Rev. Bent Myggen, also known as Captain Bentley believes music is the language of the soul – and listening a form of communion. His Church of Music (an order of one) has no doctrine to preach, lessons to teach, nor sins to forgive. We offer music, words, talent and time – and may the Crooked Path be a place for many to find joy, healing and rekindle their personal faith.
